Like so many others, my family’s life was forever changed on 12/14/2012. The families who experienced the most devastating of losses have found unimaginable strength and passion to honor their loved ones in so many ways. Many have founded charitable organizations focused on compassion, advocacy, and kindness, with a common vision of preventing anyone else from having to experience what occurred in Sandy Hook School that day.
One organization very close to my heart is The Avielle Foundation (TAF), whose mission is to prevent violence and build compassion in communities by fostering brain science research, community engagement, and education. The focus is on brain health and the study of what leads to violent behaviors so that violence can be prevented. TAF is doing absolutely amazing things both in our community and nationally, funding innovative scientific research at top-notch institutions that is destined to impact this landscape.
I am running Ragnar Cape Cod this May in support of The Avielle Foundation, so they can continue to grow their programs and fund this extremely important research. Please help me help them by giving whatever you can using the 'Give Now' button. No amount is too small! The more people that know about The Avielle Foundation, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means more than you know!
Please also send good vibes for my run…this will be the farthest I have ever attempted to run, even in my much fitter younger years and pre-arthritic knee! I know our amazing team will help pull me through, but I’ll take all the positive thoughts I can get.
Peace and love,
